Default Operating an llc outside of your residing state

I am looking to form an LLC but do not want to form it in California due to the business operating taxes. If I reside in California, can I form an LLC in another state that I am not a resident of for tax purposes?
Further, can I purchase investment properties outside of the state that my license resides? I'm figuring I can but not sure.

However you will have to get a representative agent in say Las Vegas so you can operate soley out of the St of Nevada. There are ways to do exactly like you want but I would have to clean the cobwebs from that part of my memory to give you the specifics. I will soon be able to post links and then I will send you to the right site to get this done !! Hang tough.

I'm pretty sure you have to register with the state of California as a foreign entity and pay taxes to them. From my understanding registering in Nevada or Deleware is not very advantageous any more unless you are a huge company that can structure the organization the right way to avoid paying much in taxes.
