Default Need help with new tenants

I just bought a home that already had tenants in it. The tenants never had a lease they were living with relatives. I want to establish a lease and the tenants are not cooperating and are refusing to give me their information, even keys. They are threatening to leave at the end of the month if i demand that they sign a lease. One of my main reasons for buying this property is to have tenants and extra income. What can I do?

    HELP.... anyone

Why did you not discuss this before closing if it was so important to you?
    What state are you in?

Start looking for new tenants.. and talk with them..

This is an easy one to answer. Wish them good luck and find yourself some tenants who are more cooperative than these people. If you are lucky they will leave at the end of the month and not hang around, rent free, while you go through the eviction process.

Hopefully you just learned the first lesson in being a landlord. Don't let anyone live in your unit without a lease.

Offer an incentive to get them to move, start the eviction process and get new tenants. If you do not know how to go about getting good tenants, it might be a good idea to find a property management company to find you a tenant. Good luck.

I agree with lisad... offering tenants such as incentives will result to much cooperation of tenants....
