New from Northern Illinois
Hello all! My name is Jeff Hill and I work for RE/MAX in Rockford, Illinois. I've been involved with real estate for about 8 years now and I love every day of it.
I'm married, 2 kids (5 and 3) and live in beautiful Boone County Illinois (one of the top 3 fastest growing counties in the state).
I'm a member of several other boards throughout the real estate community so I figured I'd join another one. I look forward to reading several posts here and getting to know you all.

The market here has not taken as big of a hit as Chicago and the surrounding suburbs has (I'm 2 hours west of Chicago). That's a result of a multitude of things but the most predominant is the lower cost of living as well as the lower housing prices in comparison. Although November and December were brutal, things are really looking upwards right now.
The older neighborhoods still managed to maintain their average annual gains while the new construction homes leveled off a bit. The houses that are under 5 years old are hard as heck to move right now.
Total market value for the first quarter is still down in 08 about 4% but it's still the 4th strongest quarter we've seen in 10 years.

Sounds like you have a good and stable market ~ That's good when you have a few extra mouths to feed.
We hear so much about the declining markets and that the housing market is the worst since the depression, it is good to hear it is not all bad.
Here in Pinehurst, NC we're not doing as poorly as others but again we do feel the pains due to some sub-prime issues where people got in too deep.
btw, I'm a transplanted Hoosier from NW Indiana, so what I want to know is do you ever have any ring necks? MMMMMMmm.Don Price, Pinehurst, NC area REALTOR
