Student who wants to get into real estate development
I am currently in my final year at university graduating in April with a BSc in science (not very useful if I want to get into business). I'd like to change career paths, but don't really know my options. Some have suggested I go back to get another degree in commerce or finance and then get a job with a development company. Or, I work for a couple years with my science degree and eventually get an MBA in real development or finance. Are there other options? What are the best possible routes? Thanks for any suggestions.

First, I find it kind of funny that you say you want to change career paths. If you are a student, you don't have a career path yet. You are trying to figure out how to START a career path.
What has caused your changed of interest in science over to real estate?
If you are absolutely positive you want to abandon science, there is no sense in working in the field for any lenght of time.
If you have the freedom and money to stay in school--and get a business degree- do it.Rachel Pajaczek

Get some work experience first. you don't want to be a career student.

i know the feeling
i graduated a few years ago and abandoned my major. The best way in my eyes to see if you like real estate, is to experience it, work as an office manager or a sec. for an agency. u dont need a license, and it will give u a feel for the industry, and some great connections. Also read, read read. everything forums books. etc...and stay away from the no money down books websites etc.. If i had to recommend a book I would say read the modern real estate practices book , and a book by a guy named james randel, Confessions of a real estate entrepreneur. the practices book is the book which the exam is based around, and the Confessions of a real estate entrepreneur is a well written book on being successful in investing. it inspired me to get moving. hope this helps.
