    Hi,

I am trying to venture out in the Indian Real Estate market and have been working on a property blog at propertysamachar.com

I am looking for like minded people and suggestions from the community.

    Thanks,

    Default Hi from NC

    Welcome to the forum.
Now that's a market I know next to nothing about.
I worked with several gentlemen from India on the Y2K project
years ago and that's the last time I had any real input.
So, what is real estate like there?

India real estate market is one of the hottest right now. It is growing at a phenomenal rate.
Current real estate market size in India is estimated to be $12 billion (2004-05). the expected growth rate for this market is 33% to reach $50 billion by 2010. Indian real estate does not have any direct exposure to the US subprime credit market.

Segment wise growth in the next five years:
    • Office space: 5 times increase in office space in the next 5 years
    • Retail: 200 million sq. ft. for organized retail by 2010
    • Hotels: over 50,000 new hotel rooms to be added in the next 5 years.
    • Residential : Current shortage seen at approximately 19.8 million housing units
But the area is still very unorganized and it could use lot of IT help and also process help.
