I am an Arch Eng student working on a summer research project studying the effects of energy efficiency implementations of building value. Because of this, i am first trying to understand current appraisal methods.

Is there a source out there that describes the most accepted methods of real estate appraisal? I have found some standards documents - like USPAP - but they are a little lengthy and legal-worded for me to quickly absorb.

I am found the Appraisal of Real Estate Handbook, is this a good place to look? And if so, how much of a difference is there between the 12th and 13th editions?
