Question Hello, joined forum in hopes of home buying (LOAN) advice.

Hello, from Indiana! I joined this site because my husband and I are extremely interested in buying a home for our family, but this is all new to us and we don't exactly know where to start.

We both have debt, however, I am a stay at home mom and student, so we have just been focusing on paying off his debt (and the home loan will just be in his name). He currently only has a few hundred to go-woohooo!! When I pull up his credit score there is no number. I think this is because he never really established credit, just got a card years ago, when he was 18, and blew it.

What are our next steps? He is planning on getting a credit card where you make a $100 or so deposit and that is the credit limit. What are your guys thoughts? How long will it take to build his credit? We just resigned another year lease in a rental home ... my goal is to get a home loan and find our first home in less than a year.

Any and all advice/info would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the real estate forum. I would suggest finding a mortgage lender who can tell you exactly what you need to do to put yourselves in a position to buy a home. They should also be able to give you a time frame in which you can do it.
