First welcome to the forums -

Second - intrigued - please give us a background of what you offer - sort of hard to formulate a question, when (at least for me) I have very little knowledge of how SEO is beneficial to me - Now maybe I am alone on this concept - but I doubt it.

    See you around!

Many folks are just now hearing about SEO. Well Search Engine Optimization is getting your site to the tops of the Google Search Results. Its driving targeted traffic to your website.

So if you are a real estate agent in say.....Denver. Wouldn't it be great if when a person type in "Denver Real estate" into a search engine.....your Website came up on the first page? How about #1!

    Thats SEO.

Here's a secret...if it sounds too good to be true....it is!

SEO is a slow and steady process....just like link building. So anyone who says they can get you to the top in days is blowing smoke.

what sites do you suggest back linking to? Do you feel that getting 100 backlinks a week is enough to increase in rankings?

I agree! I have found most SEOs are full of it, thinking they can rank sites just using article marketing, directory submission & social bookmarking , etc... but on the flip side, most of the top SEO agencies do have access to site networks and pages on authority sites the that general SEO community doesn't... Believe me, I have employed two SEO companies in the last year, the first company, did article marketing, directory submission, text links, blog posts & social bookmarking (100s of links) - and after 3 month I was still 3-4 pages away from my top competing keyword... with the second company (an SEO agency out of Texas), I was on the first page, top 5, within 3-4 weeks - and they only provided me with a handful of links within articles about my company, maybe only 6 or 7 ... so there is a lot of disparity between SEOs and the quality of links and services they can provide.

you can rank anything but it takes work and more than just some simple throwing up of links and article marketting. Requires creativity, patience and time.

I like whatever counts as a backlink in Google Webmaster tools. Take alook at your own stuff.

But here are a few. You have to have an article at all the big sites. You have to have UGC (Squidoo and Hubpages). And a fair amount of links from websites related to your niche. I write articles and put them on some of the big names in which ever industry.

    Example:

I do alot of work with automotive related sites....since I love cars. So I write a sweet article or review and submit it to editors or contacts I have made over the years. This article goes up on their website with a text link somewhere in the article. You get a nice backlink from a high authority site that has some nice PR.

All I have to say about this one is that Google is an ever evolving creature. What was great in the past (directories, lik exchange) are DEAD now adays.

Wanna know what is becoming more useless these days?
