Hi from Houston

Greetings All,
Brand new to the business, from Lafayette, Louisiana, just got out of college and took a job in Houston. Luckily I was able to purchase a home to live in here and now want to purchase some rental property with the housing prices being so depressed. Like I said, I know very little about investing in real estate apart from a couple of books, but I know I want to get in the market soon. Any suggestions, tips, ideas, or encouragement for the Houston area or in general would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email or PM.
