Career change
Hi there, I'm going to be researching what I have to do to get out of construction and maybe......become a realtor. I am a Finish Carpenter and I enjoy veiwing homes. I love seeing how so many different homes have flow, function, veiws, beautiful landscapes and arcitecturall design. I think I would enjoy showing homes to prospetive buyers while being able to inform them of what I've learned in my years of remodeling and construction to point out the good and the bad of a home.

Unless you are only showing highend houses the rosiness that you paint for the RE business as a RE agent will wear off real fast. Being a carpenter I would suggest you think more about being an RE investor than an agent.
I held licenses twice and was also a mortgage broker. I was also an appraiser and a surveyor. Of all the RE positions being an agent was the worst.
Look for a fixer, do the repairs (supervise) and sell it. You'll probably make as much in one deal as you will in a year as an agent. The good thing about investing is that you can start today.
Good luck,

Welcome to the forum... I share some of the opinions of the last response... As a RE agent, most of my buyers know right away if they like the home or not. Being able to comment on structural changes and load bearing walls will definately be value added when needed. More often then not, it won't really be needed.
