As everyone else who came before me, a real estate IDX is simply a feed of information being pulled onto your computer screen from your local MLS system. It displays your featured homes just like Macy's displays their clothing lines...very very similar....when a consumer ads a jacket to their "shopping cart" it is just like a home buyer "favoriting" a property so they can look at it later..

Getting the rets data is no easy task and once you get it down you have to be able to manage the data. There are various websites including plugins for wordpress, Joomla and Drupal but most of them are complicated and a programmer must be involved. The best solution is to hire an open source supported solutions company who has a focus in Real Estate. Its less of a headache and in the end it will cost you less money.

    Default Idx

An IDX is a feed that comes from the MLS provider that you are taking it from. For real estate our consumers are looking for homes. With homes displayed on your site it gives you the opportunity to capture some leads if they find a home on your site they are interested in.

I'm looking at implementing an IDX system into my website (I already have someone read to do the work) but I'm not quite sold on the effectiveness. Has anyone received measurable results from using it?
