The feed actually comes from your local MLS board. Usually the webhosting company sucribes to this feed. There are many companies out there I feel that realestatewebmasters has the best one. bet there are many others.

I've done a lot of research and I came across realestatewebmasters.com and you are right. They are pretty good. I am glad that it appears I was on the right track.

Who provides IDX?
IDX is provided by your MLS board/system. However it is a distinct service, unconnected to the standard MLS feeds that realotrs get on their websites free of charge from their association.
IDX is usually served in the form of text-files by a remote FTP server, owned and daily updated by the MLS board. These text-files undergo conversion by your IDX service provider, for which usually you'd be paying a fee, and appear on your website as fully-customizable feeds (with you having complete control over their appearance etc).
IDX is not MLS.

Wherever you can get it, I highly recommend having an IDX solution on your site.
Not having that (or at least a "free report" requiring an opt-in) is simply letting business fall through the cracks.
