The REALTOR I work with uses Wolfnet. Can someone explain to me the relationship between IDX and Wolfnet? Is IDX the database and Wolfnet pulls information from it?
Thanks!

KarenA,
IDX is an industry acronym for Internet Data Exchange and simply describes how wolfnet, or any other IDX System/Service provider, gets the housing data from your local MLS. Wolfnet is one, among many, IDX service providers. Real Estate agents and brokers use IDX systems so they can effectively display all of the housing data (listings) in the MLS on their own websites.
Hope that helps.

It does. Followup question - how does that data get into the IDX.
I'm really sharing how clueless I am!

the listing data comes from the MLS. MLS's make the data available in various data formats and the IDX providers then download the data into their own systems. Then the repackage it, add some contact management features, email marketing, etc. and sell it to real estate agents & brokers typically on a subscription basis.

Wolfnet does not have a bad product but there are others that blow it away making it not even a contest. for example Diverse Solutions IDX map search stomps Wolfnet. You can see it in action at this link http://houstonhomesforsale.org/buyer...n-home-search/.

Wolfnet
Isn't Wolfnet a framed solution?
Does anyone have a list of non-framed idx providers?Looking for a realtor in Minnesota? How about a Missouri realtor in St. Louis or Kansas City? Agents Ranking researches the performance of thousands of real estate agents every year and hand selects the best realtors. You can also find information on Minneapolis Realtors at Minneapolisrealestates.com.

I've built a decent list @ nofluffreviews dot com. Click on IDX systems, find Dynamic Page Solutions - click and on the detail screen you can click next to "SEO indexable MLS listings: "Yes, requires providers cms" to get all IDX systems with that same feature. Hope that helps...
The exception here is 1parkplace. Their base system is iframe however they have a blogging cms that allows them to embed listing data via rss into blog posts, but again only if you use their CMS.

I've got to look into Wolfnet more I guess. Sounds like a good option!
