Default Boise And Treasure Valley Housing Sales

The Boise area housing sales fell 13% in 2006, but are still better than they were in 2004. According to the Idaho Statesman, most experts think that the boom in 2005 was an exception rather than a trend. A possible reason for the drop could be because too many homes were built during the boom, and sold to people who were not going to live in them, As a result, builders have scaled back.
Don Holly, professor of Economics at Boise State University said the Valley's economy should easily weather the downturn.

I'm from Idaho Falls and have been a Realtor for 7 years now in my area. I recently went into a local Wells Fargo bank the other day I picked up a New Construction and Existing housing report authored by a Wells Fargo Economist. It was just a quick read as my better half was opening an account there but they painted a very grim picture of the Boise area saying it was down something like 41%? I think your guys' biggest problem over there, everywhere for that matter, is the negative press the media is painting for everyone to see... I don't know if you've noticed or not but all my buyers are thinking they can pick up a 250k home for 125k??? It's kinda comical at times.

    All the best...
