Ex-Google engineers debut 'Cuil' way to search
Google is having alot of competition. I wonder how this new Search Engine fair to Google.

Interesting, although I don't know how well it will compare with Google. She and her little posse are going to have to fork out an absolute ton of money if they want to compete with Google. Their $33 million is only pocket change if they want to compete with the Google Goliath. Plus, it says Cuil's index spans 120 billion webpages... I would be interested to see what the quality of those webpages are. Google does a pretty good job keeping spam pages out of the search engines (their blogsearch is a different story...), but if this new search has an index 3 times larger, that just has to mean more spam pages, which could then mean to poorer results. I don't know, seeing that Google upgraded their search with her algorithms and whatnot was interesting, but trying to compete with Google I think is out of the question. They should first take baby steps (if you want to even call it that) and try to beat smaller engines like Ask, Lycos, etc. and then work their way up to the big 3. I will be interested to see this when it comes out though...

I have heard less than stellar things about this new search engine. Like yesterday on their launch they had their servers crash also from many people that have run searches they found that a lot of duplicate pages come up and the content of many high ranking pages is bunk.
It will be neat if we had a major player to provide competition to Google. I just really do not see it happenng in the near future. It will be more interesting to see how fast they rise against the likes of MSN and Yahoo than looking at Cuil as a competitor to Google.

They have some investment behind them but I do not think they will be successfull....Google is way ahead on this game........Having a good search engine tool will not be enough to catch them.....

very unimpressed
I was very unimpressed with Cuil. It didn't turn up relevant results for a lot of the searches I performed. For now, I'm sticking with Google and I'm betting that most of the users that find my site are as well.

It's been reported that way but Cuil engineer says that Cuil has seen a "number of crawlers" that pretend to be Twiceler, and site owners should consult the company's IP addresses page to determine if it's really Cuil causing all the trouble.
