    Default High Quality Link Exchanges

    Hello everyone,

My client has high quality real estate pages based in western michigan.

We have no problem exchanging links with other real estate websites based in different states.

If you are interested, please PM me for details.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

Exchanging links simply to increase rankings is something that can get you penalized by Google. You might be careful and limit your exchanges to other websites that people viewing your website will find value in.

You mean having 3252634464646 random links from every other real estate agent in the country on my site would get me in trouble?? Who would have thought.

    Good advice as always, Ryan.

    Default Hey

    Hey there,

    That is absolutely untrue.

Google does not penalize websites for getting backlinks from other websites. If that was true, competitors could submit your real estate website to porn directories and you would sink in the rankings. That simply does not happen - and is stated in the google webmaster guidelines.

Acquiring backlinks too fast may get some links devalued - but they still have some value, so even that does not hurt your website.

Outgoing links can hurt your website if they are not related to your niche, or if you appear to be a link farm. Having 10 outgoing links to other real estate websites is not a bad thing at all. In fact, users will like visiting these websites because they are related.

Perhaps you should read matt cutt's blog sometime - he is the top dog for the google spam team.

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

How does it make it "absolutely untrue"?

You confirmed exactly what was said:

10 outgoing links (or link swaps) to relevant sites is vastly different than a link farm with 3252634464646 outgoing links (or link swaps).

    Default Hey

    Hey there,

I misread what you wrote. My apologies.

I read it as links to my site instead of links on my site.

Although, having 980429804594 links on your site is not necessarily a bad thing if they are organized and related to the same niche.

There are legitimate resource directories like that.

Google states that having more than 100 links on a page is a bad idea, but matt cutts states that having a few than that would not necessarily hurt.

There are people that can argue every link exchange influences google's rankings because it does. However, I do not see exchanging links with other realtors a manipulation of the results.

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

    No worries.

Just for reference, your client's site is #4 & #5 for Holland Michigan Real Estate for my data center. (The map search is the second result.)

    Default Hey

    Hey there,

Yeah, its pretty easy to get in the top 10 on the search results.

The hard part is going from #5 to #1, especially when competitors have an older domain age, and keywords in the domain name.

The only way to really do it is to get some quality backlinks.

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

    Travis -

Be very careful when swapping links. Stay away from reciprocal link state pages entirely. Check this link out - this is something that some here can personally attest to.
