Default Strategic placement of key elements

I have found many SEO web sites offer little more than catch words. While most SEO sites state how important the proper placement of key elements is, many fail to follow their own advice. What is strategic placement of key elements? There are two aspects, the first is to have a good title and meta description tag. Most SEOs get this correct but fail on the second aspect which is a hierarchal presentation of content using heading tags. One way search engines rate content irrelevancy is by the way it is presented. A simple rule, encapsulate main topics headngs in <h1> tags and sub headings with <h2> <h3>, etc, with appropriate content following the heading tags. Simple? Yes, but how often do web pages miss this "simple" rule?

It is considered wise to stand on the shoulders of giants but foolish to put yourself in front of them.

I have tried using words strategically on several sites and the pages do actually do well for those terms when used this way.

I need to work on the top/first words. I didn't realize the importance.

I agree with you. Placement comes very handy getting the SE rank your website for keywords.

Another thing to consider is how spiders read sites. Just like people, they read from top to bottom and left to right. That being said, when it comes to keyword placement, it is wise to get your keywords as far to the upper left side of the page as possible.

To do that, make sure you analyze your HTML code. If someone else designed your site, it may not be coded like it is read...

what are the H1 H2 and H3 headers? Is this something you can use on the free website builders? Just curious because i want to tinkle with a website idea. I have a webmaster for my main site, and i would also like to talk to them about this but i want to know what i am talking about.
