Somethings Up With G
One of our client sites had a primary KW drop from #1 to #68 across all data centers today. The KW had been at #1 for the past 6 months.
It's not uncommon to see a drop across a few datacenters, but across all datacenters is a bit worrisome - especially since there have been no changes to any of the pages.
Who knows - it could all bounce back in a few days - it usually does. I just haven't seen any stable KW's bounce like this in a long, long time.

I wonder if there is another Florida type update on the way. I've seen that happen to other sites in the past. One of my main competitors dropped from first to 17. The site bounced back after a few weeks.

Bounce!
Well, the SERP for that KW bounced back to #4. I have seen a drop of 1-2 places on some other KW. I don't think the drop was due to links, though. Some new links have been added and not much has gone on with links from the competition.
I'm wondering if the site has gone stale in G's eyes. Aside from listings, PDF newsletters, and a few OBL's, there haven't been any changes or additions to the site. I guess its time to add some fresh content.

Watching google is like watching the stock market. You can only discern the trends over a long period of time. The closer you watch the more you panic. Ask yourself: "with what I know, or think I know, what can I do differently?"
It is considered wise to stand on the shoulders of giants but foolish to put yourself in front of them.
