What's up with this? I submitted my site probably six months ago and it still is not listed. There is no reason it shouldn't qualify for submission.

Simple tip - Go to Google and type "Directories Non Reciprocal Links"
or "Real Estate Directories" or even better in the google toolbar box list your competitors sites as follows , lets say they are ww .Smithvilleproperties.com
type "Smithvilleproperties" No www or .com - when the results (links) come up add to your favourites and start submitting to the same ones that they use.
Thats interesting, thanks for the tip.

BY THE WAY, how can we find out if its ok to link with these sites? I'm not too well versed on bad neighborhoods yet but i know its something to be aware of.

    Default Link Injection...

One of the quickest ways to get yourself listed in a rapid fashion is to perform link injection on as many sites as possible. BlueHatSEO.com has lots of information on this, but simply start by posting to Blogs, Forums and other dynamic sites that are already being activley indexed. The more times that Google sees your url and domain name, the higher on the index and crawl list you will get.

I created a site for Pughearts of Houston Pug Rescue and then posted on every conceivable related forum, blog and rss index site I could - we were indexed and in the first page of hits within 7 days. Type in pug rescue houston into google and it's there - we have only been running the organisation for about 2 months, but we get over 2000 hits a day already. Granted, not a real estate site - but the technique is the same.

My new site was indexed in 3 days. I just went out and built a bunch of links for the site as soon as it went live. That is all you really have to do anymore.

Exactly, and as soon as you have a site that is being crawled on a regular basis, you can embed links into that site to ensure a cascaded index to the new ones. Ideally you should inject links to 10 or so well indexed sites to ensure a rapid crawl. Then make sure you use the webmaster tools over at Google to create a site map and check your stats. You can monitor the keywords and phrases that are indexed and this gives you a good insight into what you need to add or change to get you higher on that list.

Also, another GREAT way to get indexed is to create a blog. A site with constantly changing content - but retaining the same links will be indexed more often.

Make sure you use the metatags to set the crawl rate to something like 5 days...(any less and you will be dropped down the list).

Also, when creating multiple pages, change the keywords and descriptions slightly on each page - if the crawler sees the same tags on every page this can also lower your ranking. It wants to see content!

The effort pays off in the end.

The entire 50 page site was crawled and indexed with the first Crawl.

I have had a site crawled on the same it it went live, but it did not show up for 3-4 days... I have a couple of blogs not related to my business that get crawled on a regular basis and have aprox 300 regular visitors a week - these sites get trackbacks and links from (at last count over 2000 related sites) - and as such i can simply post a link to a new site I have created and Google then comes sniffing within 48 hours...

    Default site indexed

Links seem to be all it takes to get a site indexed. To get a good ranking is a different story. Lots of work and patience it seems. Wayne

All you need is one important website linking to yours. That will at least put it in the system, then you have about a year of paying your Google dues.
