    Default Search Engine Usage

The latest percentages I have seen are as follows:
    • 52% Google (includes AOL search results)
    • 23% Yahoo.com
    • 19% MSN.com
    • 6% ask.com
The remaining is made up of all the other search engines. BTW, this is for searches done in the United States.

Search engine use is all about the user demographic (age, income level, etc.)and sectors being searched.

With that being said, one of the latest publications that I read showed Google with a 78% share, Yahoo at 6%, and MSN at just above 4%.

I think I read about the Nov/Dec 2006 stats on Webmasterworld, and the article was cited by Aaron Wall. I can't find the original post, even on Aaron's site (seobook.com). He did have an earlier post on his blog that linked to http://www.skrenta.com/2006/12/googl...arket_sha.html.

My numbers correlate pretty closely with Chief Tutors - Google tends to be about double what Yahoo! gets. Also, I've heard that one of the two tends to cater towards a more mature demographic - can't remember if it was Google or Yahoo! - has anyone else heard something like this?
