Getting Links to Interior Pages or Main Page
Here's an interesting question that I'm not clear on.
Will it help more, for the keywords that I'm targeting, to get links pointing to the interior pages of my site or is it more beneficial to get links sent to my main page.
Here's what i always thought... Target specific key phrases on the interior pages and get links coming in with the anchor text you are targeting.
But I've noticed lately that sites are coming up that have powered up their main page with links with differing anchors and their interior pages are coming up high without any deep links.
Is it a case of over optimization on the interior pages and a filter that is keeping me down?
So which way is more beneficial? Or is it good just to keep your bases covered and do both.
I hope everyone understood the question.
How do these things get so complicated

Over optimization occurs when you are focusing on one keyword for your home page and try to get links for that particular anchor text, this gets suspected by bots and in result you'll get penalized.
Therefore the best practice that i would advice is to keep your link profile neat and clean optimize for multiple keywords based upon your inner pages keywords and link it with your home page. In that way you not only your home page will get rank but all those inner pages will also get ranked, and have multiple anchor linking towards your home page will seems link natural to bots as wellLast edited by Chief Tutor; 10-20-2011 at 09:55 AM.
