Get a Google account and get webmaster tools and also submit your site to Google analytics (all in the Google account) which will give you a huge amount of data about your site and its search configuration, visitors, key words its huge. The web master tools will allow you to submit a site map. Key words are not so important any more because search engines tend to index all the pages in a site unless you exclude them via the robot.txt another good thing to do is generate an .xml sitemap and submit it to Google via your webmaster account that helps the search engine index all you pages (you can find a free sitemap generator on Google)

Other than manually checking your keyword rankings for your portal, the best tool you can use is the Rank Checker - where you can check multiple rankings for multiple keywords. You just have to install in on your browser.

There are a few good (free) keeword rank checker programs out there - CuteRank will do one URL - But key word are becoming less important. My neighboursfromhell site does't have great results in the key word departmetn but it scores very well for neumerous searches for lots of revelant content because the search engines index all the pages.

I still think that Google Analytics has enough functions of this kind and it can help you to see everything that happens to the site of yours.

Googl analytics rocks and submit the sitemap.xml map via webmaster tools - Google analytics and Adaware stats in cPanel (if you have it) provide masses of info on you site statistics.

Google analytics has been suggested a few times but although it does provide lots of useful information it doesn't show Google keyword search rankings.
One option that does is SEO powersuite's Rank Checker. It does have a limited free version you can try it out and see if it meets your needs

Have you guys tried using SEMrush? The tool sends out keyword details about your portal, from ranking to other needed data, as well as keyword that you are not aware you are ranking for. That's a good tool also in keyword researching as you are also able to know what your competitors are targeting as their keywords.
