And yes I have been doing the tedious job of article writing, but it sucks, I am not a writer, yet i am cheap so i have to do it myself. I have wondered about sites that sell links on high PR pages , are they a scam or is it good to have a link from a high PR site no matter what its content?

Well, in current, Article submission plays major role after panda update. Unique content gives quick boost to your website.

I don’t believe that paid services give much more than can be got for free, provided of course you have the time and inclination. For example, if your competitors are above you in searches, have a look at their high authority backlinks (which they may have paid for) and you can sometimes get them for yourself. Also look at other high ranking real estate sites who aren’t competitors (e.g. in other countries) and do the same.

Well most seo services are not going to through the trouble of delisting your links. Yet there is a lot said for doing this yourself. Yet the problem is time !
Who has the time and SEO services usually have some quality networks set up already they can plug you into.

Blog commenting and forum posting? really? They haven't been mentioned before!! Ah yes, actually have, they were even mentioned in the original posting as well as countless times since .....

Now days content is beneficial for your website. Write unique and attractive content for your website. Post your unique content in best article websites and and do regular blogging. This is the effective way of link building.

The best way to get backlinks is using blogging and guest bloggin in my opinion. I have worked with a lot of SEO companies and I can tell you for a fact, that about 95% of all SEO companies will basically just scam you.

The problem is that there is very little ways to track the links and see how effective they have been. The only thing you can do is blog for yourself and that way you can make sure that you are giving out good content.
