You can maintain your traffic from search engines by maintaining your keyword ranking positions (SERP - search engine ranking positions). but there are some keywords that may change it's traffic from time to time (seasonal keywords). Let's say you are targeting "florida insurance license renewal" this keyword may change from this month to the next if the deadline for the renewal has passed. Your traffic may also change depending on time and season - if you are selling christmas products, you will get high traffic on the holiday season (december- maybe even november since a lot starts they shopping in this month) and low on regular months (january to october).
