    I've used it to test whether all html tags are closed on a page. Basically it provides a report on all CSS or HTML errors it finds on a page.

    You can test a html page that's online or offline (in this case you have to upload the file). I found however there are better similar tools: try the Mozilla Html Validator add-on. It has a much better interface and it easier to use
