Making a forum and using adsense, Good or bad idea?

I am thinking about doing a forum for my hobby website, is there anywhere to read about guides and getting one up

Also is this a decent way to earn some money and get traffic? DO I have to worry about getting in trouble with adsense? Everything is legit, but I am just so worried that something will go terribly wrong and I lose everything

Anyone that has one, I would appreciate your suggestions

Yes, its a good idea, there are also more money making opportunities if you will start a forum, when you will get suficient traffic, you can sell advertisements on your forum.
