Top Tips For Google Local Maps Places
So, are there any super top tips on what to add to get a good listing in Maps?
I have a potential client (or 2) lined up, and mentioned Google Places ("is that Google Maps?" he said). I set it up for my brother and he gets good results, but not a very competitive area at all.
So, any tips would be lovely!

It's drop dead easy to rank for #1 in the Google 7 box.
1. Claim the place page.
2. Complete everything on the page. Everything: maximum photos videos, etc.
3. Grab the URL from your Place Page.
4. Use that URL as your anchor text when you leave your link on the various methods of backlinking such as RSS, articles and so on.
5. The business owner should solicit reviews from clients and encourage clients to post the reviews on the Place Page or other review sites that Google gathers reviews from.
6. The more citations you can plant around the web, the better you will establish your place as number one spot in the 7 box.
