#1 Google but still no leads!
Hey guys,
I started this site about 6 months ago and just hit #1 for the term "murfreesboro homes for sale" which is one of the better keywords in my market. My domain is www.murfreesboro-homes-tn.com. The site is supposed to be geared more towards lead conversion but I am having little success. Any ideas?

1. kill the music
2. you have no information on your site. you have a lot of promises to provide information after they sign up but it doesn't work that way. without a sample of what you can provide they will just leave.
3. the number one thing consumers are looking for is listings. you need an IDX set up on your site so they have something to look at. after they have looked at some listings then you require them to sign up to continue looking. This is how you get sign ups.
4. because of all this your bounce rate is most likely very high which will hurt you in the serps. the longer you wait to do this the lower you will fall in the rankings.Your Outer Banks real estate agent. Learn how to buy Outer Banks foreclosures.

Emotional Hooks
Before I visited your site I had just read this article:
wilsonweb.com/conversion/ash-emotional-motivators.htm
My first gut reaction to your homepage was that it didn't offer anything - the home page was so bland. It didn't make me want to go any further.
Now here's the good news.
You are marketing your services in Murfreesboro, TN - one of the hottest, fastest growing suburbs in Nashville. There are new shopping centers being built, a new hospital being built (I just drove by it a few months ago), good schools, great restaurants, upscale communities, etc, etc.
You have to get that passion on your homepage.
Read the article I mentioned and find ways to tap into a potential buyers emotions.
I would recommend:
1. Some short quotes from people about why Murfreesboro is such a great place to live.
2. Add a sidebar about Murfreesboro statistics.
3. Make that big graphic at the top of the page narrower - bring your content/text up closer to the top of the page.
4. Try to have no more that 8-10 links on a page (less is more).
5. Show at least 1 or 2 showcase homes on the homepage.
6. Offer users an incentive to contact you - a freebie that has some (perceived) value.
7. Don't make them register to see listings.
You don't have to become an entire information site about Murfreesboro, just tell the visitor the highlights and make it exciting - hook their emotions.SearchTheJungle.com

some ideas
Brad-
One major issue with the website is that it takes an annoying long time to load (10 secs) and ditto on losing the music. 10 seconds might not seem like a big deal but I was tempted just to close my browser. Most other people are likely too.
Do you have any metrics data on the website. How many unique visitors do you have weekly/monthly? What is the bounce rate?
You might be local #1 but on Google I checked your keyword and other keywords and you rank #18 globally for "murfreesboro homes for sale". There are also other keywords you should be going for such as: murfreesboro homes and murfreesboro houses. "murfreesboro TN property" is a worthless keyword (with only 58 searches monthly) and I would remove it from your title page.
I checked your rankings and you don't rank as high as you think and need to.
I would address the issues other member have brought up and focus keywords of value.
Here are the ranking data I found:
Keyword Google.com position / Yahoo (United States) position
murfreesboro homes for sale 18 / 11
murfreesboro homes NR / 4
murfreesboro houses 157 / 152
murfreesboro TN property 3 / 27
murfreesboro TN real estate 138 / 67Last edited by sprintimp; 09-25-2009 at 10:38 AM. Reason: fix keyword ranking data display

Your website is too limited. It does not offers anything. Make it a little bit interested.

Site loading is effective factor in ranking for 2010. Check it out the other sites and compare to your site.

I have seen the site and I think you should really improve your content. It does not offer any listing at first sight. So that's the reason why it does not convert to leads. I think it's better to let your visitors see first your listing and if they become interested, then that's the time they have to signup to get a full access and to see the full details of the home for sale they want to buy.

Yeah I show you in 13th position on Google. If you are logged into Google this will affect your rankings. And I agree there is alot wrong with your site. The music yes....even more the big blue thing right in the middle! Total Junk

The thread was created months back so maybe his sites ranking dropped.
It is always on my top 3 list that "Usability of website" is a factor in order to get conversion. Rankings is no use if a site doesn't perform well for the user. We rank our site so that prospect clients will get into it and do what brought them to our site.

I think your competitors work very well. Then you should improve your site and make it user-friendly and so on. Then you should start hard SEO and try to increase your traffic in any way.
