    Default When Links Go Bad

    Hi All,

I would like to share one scenario and request you all to share your thoughts and inputs here.

Yesterday, a client came to us for his link building requirement. He was bit upset with his previous link building vendor. Reason was he thought that his website ranking suddenly dropped due to the link they delivered. Client also shared his link details for our perusal and instructed us not to deliver links of that quality.

[FONT=Arial]We checked all links and we got that link sources are thematically relevant and having PR 1-2. So, the question is

It's funny how no one knows how the search engine algorithms work but when their site falls they are sure they know why.

It is very possible that their site did not fall down but rather the other site/s moved up.

Sounds like a client you can expect to turn on you as soon as something is not to their liking.

Sometimes link exchange is not applicable so better be careful upon exchanging links. It is not really good to have exchange your link details with unwanted websites.

Google is sometimes a mystery to me.

Sometimes it is happening as well that serps go down after link building.
But afterwards they most of the time they go up again.
I think the best is slowly build links and vary the anchor text enough.

Some people say that it does not matter how quick and how many links you build but I had other experiences.

Of cource the algo from google is secret so it is some gessing I do here.

I've observed that to, there was a time in which you focus on link building strategy then afterward my site goes down.

In SERP's it is natural that today you are number 1 then tomorrow you are number 5 for a specific keyword. It means that there is something lacking in your link building or there is something wrong with your keywords. Always check the links and keywords of your website. You can use backlinkwatch.com in checking your links.

I think nobody can answer this question as nobody knows exactly what factors Google takes into consideration while making the ranking. But the possible reason is that the site itself needed to be changed, I mean the content.
