SEO vs AdWords ROI
I am curious about your experience with both organic search engine optimization and Google AdWords ROI. Some say the organic SEO beats AdWords by a mile in ROI, while other saying the two are very comparable if you know how to use one to supplement the other.
At the end, it all comes down to the cost per lead or cost per sale with either form of marketing. Love to hear your experience as to which one is more effective than the other or how to combine the two to make the marketing the strongest.
It is said that only 20-30% of web searchers click on the sponsored ads. Is this number still in the ballpark or has this changed?

I have always done SEO, but for a big ticket item like real estate I would think using Adwords is smart. Not many people realized that Google gives out a big discount for people that already have higher rankings. And it is pretty easy to get on the 2nd or 3rd page of google seach result, then use adwords. This will save a lot of money or allow for the ads to be posted more often. More bang for your buck with SEO.

It is not the ranking itself that gets you the price break on Google it is being relevent for your keywords that gets you this break. Now the principals are the same and that is why those that rank higher in organic tend to get this break. The answer to your question is spend time and money on both. Adwords is great because you will consistantly know the amount of traffic you will recieve in any given month, however, with organic you will not. Anytime the search engines change things in their algos you will loose traffic for a period of time. The good thing about SEO is ROI can be huge once you get to the first page for a heavily searched keyword.

Adwords is fast. SEO is (generally) slow.
QFT. The most popularly searched terms can get quite expensive for Pay Per Click (PPC) - which is why a lot of PPC persons recommend shooting for long tail terms, where its not as competitive.
IMO, The main plus for SEO is its about building an asset. If you stop your PPC, then you are out of business. However with SEO, once you are ranked quite well, you can typically coast for months without doing much of anything.Last edited by Malok; 04-20-2009 at 08:14 AM.

If you are dealing with a lot of revenue, I'd use both AdWords and Search Engine Optimization. Reap the benefits of Adwords now, and benefit from SEO later.

In the beginning, I did both SEO and PPC. Now my site is getting better organic rankings, I'm slowly stopping the PPC and hopefully will stop doing PPC soon.
