Another Domain Age Question
I have read a lot on the domain age issue, and I have done my own research. I have come to the conclusion that it is a driving force in quality rankings. The question I have is whether or not any of you have first hand knowledge of the different ages and a noticeable bump in rankings. So did you see a jump in rankings at 1 year? 2 years? 5 years?
I have seen several people reference the two year mark as a big one.
I know this topic seems to get worn out, but this portion of the question has not been detailed in too many places.

All that I can say is that domain age is huge and is a large percentage of Google's algo. 2 years is good, but from what I have seen the 5, 7, and 10 year marks are very trusted and powerful. The two year mark was good for my site, but I am hoping for stronger Serps when I hit the 5 year mark.

Domain age is significant.
Keywords in domain name are significant
Registering your domain name for 10 years is significant.
Impossible to put a qualitative value on any of these factors

About domain age and website ranking
There is a lot of talk about domain age. My domain name is only 2.5 years old and I am on the top of the first page of Google. Ranking is a combination of many things. I have given talks to professional organizations on this subject and they are stunned by how a few small things can affect your ranking. I designed my own site and promoted it myself until just recently, mostly because I was just too busy managing other websites. I don't manage other sites anymore and will probably promote my own site again soon. Content, keywords, URL exposure in other places, links (internal and external), and submitting your site with Google is the most important things you can do. Don't worry about any of the other search engines. Google is used 10 to 1 over any other engine. If you want to take a look at my site you may see some things you can do to improve yours. If you have questions, you can contact me by email. reassurancehomeinspection@comcast.net
Good Luck!

Why even talk about it? If they value older domains that doesn't mean you can't get a new domain to rank. It has never slowed me down. Just do it and concentrate on making websites.
I have fairly new sites that are ready to expire in a couple of months that are beating out old established sites and I have very old mature sites that kick butt. Just do it.Your Outer Banks real estate agent. Learn how to buy Outer Banks foreclosures.

That's right...just do it!
Domain age is such a small factor, you should not worry about it. Just do the other things that are important.

Although I haven't confirmed this myself, I kinda believe that domain age is one of the factors that helps in ranking well. It's not a major factor but it helps. It's like filling up a bucket of water by drops.

Domain age
I hate to tell you guys this but domain age is a factor but very insignificant in comparison to the many other things that influence your ranking. I have been a webmaster now for 12 years with formal training and continual training and I know what I am talking about. Get off the domain age thing and concentrate on other things. I have built a website using a newly registered name and had first place rankings on Google in less than 4 months. Ranking can depend on the subject matter (real estate ranking is one of the most competitive), website design, keywords, content, links, general optimization, and avoiding the things that negatively affect your rankings. So please, don't blame your poor ranking on that fact that your domain name is new. If you want to pay someone to optimize your site and get you ranked better, contact me and I will tell you who can help you. It runs about $100 per month but it may improve your business to make up for that. I do not do that anymore. I am too busy inspecting homes since my site Reassurance Home Inspection is #1 or #2 on the first page of Google for the search phrase "Minnesota home inspection" or "Minnesota foreclosure inspection". Since I hit the first page of Google my business is up 250% over last year. I give talks all the time to realtor and inspector groups. I would be happy to help anyone rank better. Contact me...email or call.

I guess I wasn't clear enough in my original post. I know domain age plays some sort of a factor, that wasn't the question, and I am not blaming my rankings for a new domain, I am doing quite well in my field. My site will be turning 2 years in a month and was wondering if I would get any bump in ranking for it. I am currently number 11 for one of my pages and was hoping it might push me on to the first page. So if anybody has noticed a bump in ranking when your site turned 2 years old, please chime in. Or if you didn't see a bump in rankings at 2 years old please chime in. Please don't take my comments as rude, I appreciate everybody here and all the advice that gets shared, I am just trying to clarify what my question was. I hope everyone is doing well.

Personally I don't think that domain age represents important factor. Simply, because of the fact that all old domains would be rock solid first in their search areas, and facts are not backing up that presumption. As far I know, the oldest domain is symbolics.com, and as far I see, there is nothing special about it. Simply, there is no "silver bullet", good SEO, and ranking are result of several things, but my opinion is that most important thing is content. If you have quality, visitors will find you, the words and links will spread. And if you manage to do that in a continous period of time, your ranking will rise, and that is why roomers about the domain age started. I would advise you to choose your domain name carefuly, because Google pay quite atention to domain name, instead of age.
