Default How important is Google PR to you ?

    Hi Everybody,
A lot of people find Google PageRank very important for their site(s).
To me SERPS are more important.
    What is your opinion ?

And is there a link between PR and SERPS ?
    Thanks
    LRE

PR is meaningless IMO. SERP is much more important.
However, I'm testing a site as we speak to see if higher PR will give better SERP...

    Hi Codythebest,
I am very interested in the outcome of your test when the test is ended.
Maybe other people did already a similar test before. Please let us know.
    Thanks

Google PR is very important but you should not focus on it. Write good posts in blog, forums, and other places where your links will not receive a nofollow tag and a higher PR will follow. The higher your PR the better you will result on a SERP.

Also, keep in mind that your PR updates constantly but your only able to see the updates every 3-4 months. Do as much as you can and when the public facing PR updates you'll be happy with the results.

I doubt this. My site is PR3 and for a specific keyphrase, 2 sites are before mine. One is PR1 and the other is PR2. Plus, there is a PR4 behind mine.
I try to get PR5 to see if I can pass these sites in front of me...

    Codythebest,

I can explain why this happens... Page rank is important but clearly not everything. If it was the only single factor then the same sites with a PR 10 would show up for every single search in Google. We know that is not the case.

The "off page" SEO is one part of it, but the "On Page" is the second side of the story. This is where keyword, title tags, meta tags, etc come into play. If your site is optimized for a set of keywords that no one else is it will come up at the top of the search no matter what the PR is.

In your case if you optimize your site for those specific keywords I can just about guarantee that you will show up higher than the sites with a lower PR. Your issue is right now that these sites have their "On Page" SEO more specificaly targeting these keywords.

If you would like me to take a look at your site feel free to PM me and I would be happy to give you some recomendations.

It seems that there was a PR update yesterday as my real estate site dropped from PR3 to PR2, even if I was more active in the link exchange. I even have PR8 backlink but they are not registered by Google.
The site is still #5 for my keyphrase: Gatlinburg Real Estate.
I suspect that will change if I believe some of you. Beside, sites that were above me seems to gain PR...
I was more active in link exchange and expected a PR4, but it didn't happen...

    Codythebest,

What are you using to check your PR?

Also, I highly recommend checking out Google Webmaster Tools http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ . It gives you an amazing insight on how Google views your site and where your ranked for specific keywords.

PR isn't very important to me, however, it is a factor in doing well in SERPs I still think it is very small. The only thing PR is important for is link selling and I have no interest in that.
Come check out my new real estate blog.
