How much is #1 in Google Worth?
How much is a #1 google ranking for a top 200 city real estate term worth? For example, how much would a website that ranks #1 on google for the term "Eugene Real Estate" worth?
I'm just getting into real estate website rankings, so I was just wondering how much a website like this would be worth buying. Thanks for your opinions.Find the best Pomona real estate online. Choose from a professional office suite for lease or a mobile home in Pomona.

I'll charge about $200 to do a job like that I guess, if I was in the field...

There are two factors that will affect its price. First, It depends on how competitive a keyword is. Second, On how many people search for that particular keyword/key phrase.

Buying someones sites
This was a question raised recently when a non tech savvy agent thought they could buy the website and use it to garner prospects from the existing rankings.
I explained to them without the same hand guiding the website, its like having your car on the freeway and you take your foot off the gas. Eventually you slow down and gradually coast to the shoulder. Pages and links need to be updated and checked. New blogs need to be posted.
If someone wanted to buy your website that was tech savvy, IT Based, they could recreate or emmulate the same or similar results. Companies want specific things for name and product placement.
What if I wanted to create REAL ESTATE in Eugene? It contains the same three keywords but would have a different price based on responses. For your clients and prospects you need to develope each of the categories and cross link the pages.
I would consider other like;
Buyers Agent Eugene
Home buying Eugene
Home Selling Eugene
Eugene Homes for Sale
These can all be accomplished with a keyword Ad strategy.
Post a page on your website for each listing; create online ads on multiple (free) posting boards, with similar or identical keyword strategies.
Your google Alerts (free) will show you when your ads are (read) picked up by Google and added to your ranking contribution.

Another important aspect to valuing the ranking is that if you don't convert any views to buyers/sellers then you might as well be number 5000 for your search term.

It's worth a lot of money, time, patience and determination to do it.
Money can't buy only that.

Value of the position is quite high as many users do not search outside the first three terms.

Make no mistake, it takes a lot of money to reach number 1 in Google for a competitive term like real estate, unless you have a lot of time on your hands and the knowledge to use free methods to get there yourself, which most of us don't have. But being in the top 3 is invaluable for any business these days.
