Well in all fairness, Bob if you are promoting your name elsewhere and expect people to google your name to find more information about you, then it is great. On the other hand, if your looking for business on the internet, your going to have to get your site on SERP's that are gonna get you traffic.

Reaching number one on your specific market keyword will bring more sales (organically). Organic traffic is the best traffic. Misleading only will get you 100% people leaving your site

Exactly, which is why SEO is so much more worthwhile in the long run than PPC in my opinion.

Default Value in Bidding in a Name

Depending upon the size of your business (and if your business is Bob Caine) there is nothing wrong with bidding on your own name. Just keep the verbiage in the ad specific to your business so that you don't get any wasted clicks - i.e. Bob Caine - VT Real Estate Professional. Fill up as much of the first page as you can. The cost for those clicks will be minimal. If you have to pay $10 a month in CPC, I would say go for it. I would also go after it with SEO. Nothing better than taking up the top CPC position and top organic rankings for your keyword phrases.

    Default One more thought....

You can geo - target pretty well in adwords too...
    1. Make sure that you are only bidding on Google search (not in the content network).
    2. Make sure that adwords are only being shown in your area.
    3. Make sure that the ad reflects your name, business and what your selling proposition is.
    4. Set your hours.
    5. Negative keywords are huge.If there is a Bob Caine auto dealership in your area make sure to make auto, car, dealershit, toyota etc negative keywords.

We recommend that almost all of our clients bid on the names of their business and if you are a real estate agent, your name is your business. The cost per lead and conversion is a total no-brainer. It's cheap, builds credibility, takes of space thus helping protect your reputation.
