On the home page you can install a widget from google to search specific websites.

It is easier to BLOG news related items than add page content (news) to the website.

The google widget searches only the websites I have and my blog.

People can instantly find what their topic of interest is.

Blog is one way to promote your website. One tip, you can send you articles in your blog to any ezines. But be sure that your articles are atleast 250 words per article.

Another tip for blogs is to make sure you are constantly adding content. It takes time to build traffic so you need to make sure you keep users coming back.

can you give an example blog that is successful and has traffic. I am currently constructing a blog and just want to get started in the right direction.

A blog is one thing getting traffic is another. If you don't have a plan to get traffic I wouldn't start a blog.
Why not market on someones else's blog that gets great traffic. Nobody wants to hear the crickets.

I will try to get on some popular blogs - I guess I need to do that before starting one to see what they are all doing
