Now I may be a day late and a dollar short but I saw this great article in
Realtor Magazine Online about just this subject. I've been really interested in it myself. It's in the "Ask Mr Internet" section and the article is called Tap the Power of Podcasting. It answers a lot of questions and even tells you about the software you might need. Hope this helps anyway......

Podcasting from someone who has done it
You can check out one of my podcasts by going to my blog at access1000.blogspot.com and then go to the archives for Auagust 2005. It's titled updates in a podcast.
As far as how hard is it... it does take a little time and doing. you have to have a place to store the soundfiles on a server and to make it good, you have to play around with a soundfile editor.
The other thing is that to get it popular fast, you have to submit the podcast to all of the directories and rss feed indexes...but it works.
I have 100's of itunes subscribers to my blog waiting for my next release! A couple of people even emailed me asking when the next podcast was going to happen. My Blog: http://Access1000.blogspot.com

Podcasting...great opportunity...
I came to this site tonight to get feedback from Realtors on how they felt about using a podcast to grow their businesses.
Personally, I think podcasts can be a very effective and useful tool for Realtors to promote and grow their businesses, so much so that I have registered the domain name RealestatePodcasters.com, and I want to provide this as a service to Realtors.
On a regular basis, my plan is to interview my client Realtors, in the interviews, we'll talk about their hot listings, what is happening in their respective markets, and they can talk about their specific areas of expertise, and news developments in their markets as well.
How much do you think Realtors would be willing to pay for this...the plan might be to do a 10 to 15 minute interview once a week...or once a month...and the interviews would be "embedded" on the Realtor's respective websites.
I think Podcasts for Realtors are no-brainer! A great way to set yourself apart and provide value and market intelligence to your clients.
Thoughts from others?
Best, Tom

I think that podcasts can be a great tool for getting yourself out there if they are done well.
It is like a director's commentary on a DVD. I have listened to some DVD commentaries where the director just repeats what is happening on screen. The best commentaries are the ones that offer some insight that you couldn't get just by watching the DVD.
If you put some thought and work on your delivery of the podcast, then they can really be fantastic.
