How important is it to have an RSS feed?
Reproducing blog software is a tall order, since most have a huge amount of features. How important, would you say, is it to have RSS/Atom feeds declared and generated for a blog?
Can you give examples where this functionality has increased your traffic or notoriety?

Well, from an SEO perspective, having additional content that is relevant can help your site. However, many bloggers pack clean links in there feed descriptions, so unless you scrub the HTML, you will be dripping juice to their site.
I'm interested in how the real estate community uses RSS feeds in general and whether they feel that having a feed of their blog is vital to their Internet marketing strategy.

RSS feeds are useful for helping search engines find new pages of your sites. You can also submit your RSS feeds to various RSS directories so it's an extra place to get some links coming in to your site.
I would recommend setting up a wordpress blog on your website for something like this instead of paying some software company tons of money to install some shoddy RSS technology on your site.

I use RSS feeds on news web sites. Why would I browse through web site, when I could load content which I want within one mouse click. I is not revolutionary but saves time, and allows your visitors to reach information they need quickly and that is what counts. Conclusion RSS feed can do no harm, so it's doing good for you.

Yes but if someone aims towards good SEO, then it's by far better to use sitemap especially in XML format. RSS is also in XML, and search engines love XML data because they could easily parse it, and there lies main reason for popularity of RSS, but feed doesnt reach all the pages on web site, so it is better to use XML sitemap.
