Blog Traffic
What kind of traffic are you seeing at your blog? I'm doing an action plan for my marketing director, and she wants me to pinpoint a value of hits for the next few months.
I'd like to hear what kind of traffic your sites are averaging and see if that's a viable number for me to obtain by doing all the basics (keywords, Tenchnorati, etc.).

How old is the blog? Have you been posting quality info that engages? It takes a long time (or it took me a long time) to build to any amount of traffic. You should use google analytics to see where you are at now as a baseline and go from there.

It's a brand new blog, only a few weeks old. Had about 80 hits so far. We do development of residential, commercial and industrial property. So, the blog is geared towards telling customers a little bit about what's new with us, and what we're up to.
I think the content is engaging and informative, but I might be a little biased.

Find site traffic
You can try to use a site like compete dot com (no relational to our site) to gather some traffic estimates on other sites. It's just an rough idea but it may help.

Blogging
Installing the google analytics component allows you to track hits and returning people.
The blog is a great source of keyword content to links within my website.
After about a year of posting, I have an average of 30 to 60 people per day who visit.
Blog topics are reflective of the increase (or decrease) in hits to my site(s) when I check the analytics where people came from.
All in all I think its very worthwhile.

Blog writing is fun too! I once wrote a short blurb about Billy Mayes (sp?) and ended up getting a sale from it.

Since its a new blog you will see some fairly low traffic, once you develop your blog and add some more content then you will generate more traffic from search engines, just keep adding new articles and the users will find you. You might try promoting your blog on forums this will also help.

It is a new blog, so its gonna take a lot of work till you gain some history, links, readers, etc. I would just continue to write about READABLE stuff and make sure your writing about topics that get searched. This will help you get searches, more readers (hopefully recurring), and maybe build up some links.
