My wife and I are going to separate at some point in the near future and I would like my name to be off of the mortgage so I may potentially buy a new home for myself in the future. I am not attempting to pursue this for financial gain (in fact my desire is for her to gain the most financially from this separation, I just want enough to live modestly on my own). She does not earn enough for me to just turn the mortgage over to her alone. She will most likely have to have a co-borrower (such as her mother). We can not simply put the house on the market because her business is run from this house. Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to handle this situation?
