Golf in Turkey is quickly rising to become one of the best locations in the world for keen golfers, evident by Turkey recently hosting one of the most prestigious events in golf.

The 2011 International Golf Tourism Fair to be hosted in Turkey from the 14th November to the 17th November sees up to 350 tour operators and 1,400 commissioners and many more keen golfers all get together at the event hosted by the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM).

To be hosted in Belek, the winner of the "Best Golf Destination of Europe" award in 2008, the fair's marketing manager, Mark Walsh, said: "Turkey's achievement in golf tourism in such a short time are remarkable. By improving its golf courses to meet and exceed international standards and adding many new ones, Turkey has positioned itself as one of the most popular golf destinations in Europe. The Belek region is exceptional in this regard with its 14 golf courses in 10 different facilities."

Currently the Golf tourism market in Turkey generates more than 125 million Euros every year and is continuing to rise at rapid pace as Turkey, especially Belek, invest in more and more championship quality golf courses.
