Negativity in the media
Doesn't it just get annoying sometimes with so much negativity by the media when it comes to anything real estate related? I know that it creates more of a buzz and sells more "newspapers" by saying the sky is falling, but I cease to be amazed at how much down, down, down is showing up in our papers, TV, etc.
I was reading through comments by many agents from around the country in response to another thread asking how their individual market was. Interestingly, when you talk to alot of the agents in the trenches, things are not nearly as bad as they seem.
Here in Minnesota, our team has seen many buyers who are "hungry" to buy in this market. Both investors and owner occupied buyers as well. In addition, sellers are also finding if they price the home correctly and work with a top agent, the home will sell.
Again, maybe it's just Minnesota nice, but things just don't quite seem as bad as others make it out to be. I'm curious what others have felt in their local marketplace in regards to the media and what is actually happening.
Looking forward to everyone's responses!Minnesota MLS & Minneapolis MLS Search homes for sale in Minneapolis, St Paul at MN Multiple Listing Service. well sometimes media report or press release are annoyingly exaggerated, that's why I don't rely on media alone.

Ehh, I know what you mean about it getting tireing. Frankly I just don't read the paper and occasionally glance at the Yahoo home page. Create your own reality and turn off the news and don't buy the paper.

I think it depends on the area. Here in CA home prices are still high and home are not selling like they were.

No News Sells Like Bad News! The only hope is for the election and it's associated distraction will get the media off our backs so recovery for the areas of the nation that are hurting can recover. I am doing OK, but big companies with lots of overhead are hurting in my area.

the Media and the Financial Crisis
While the US and the world financial communities are now embroiled in the Mortgage meltdown and subsequent Stock market jitters.
The Brits have an incredibly different approach to some of the British Banks being bought up by the Government.
