well, it may not necessarily be the BEST way to promote your site, necessarily, but it does help you keep updated content.

blogs can also be used as stress reliever that's what i do. I post what i feel to subside some stress.

There's a fine line between showing your readers that you're human and diminishing your blog effectiveness by going off-topic too often.
But blowing off steam occasionally is perfectly legit, especially if you have small children.
