Is craigslist.com a reliable way to get business or do you get a bunch of nonsense inquiries?

You get both. If you want to be successful using craigslist you have got to be posting consistantly. Like with any other avenue for leads only a fraction will be of high quality. You also must have a method to track the people that call on your ads and find some way to monitor how changes to your ads makes a difference in response to them along with quality of the responses. I think the best method for this is in two parts using a 800 number for phone contacts and using domain parking for web inquires.

Works nicely for me. Not a bunch of leads but the market is slow. Worth it though. I post every weeks and should do more posting...Beside, it's free advertising...

All it takes is for that 1 lead to turn into a deal and it makes your time you have spent on Craigslist well worth it. Definitely use it as it is a free source of advertising!!!

Make sure you are driving them to your website!

I agree with what everyone else is saying. You have to spend some time posting your listings on it but it can be worth it. If someone decides they like the property then maybe they buy it. Heck, I find myself browsing craigslist real estate section at times..
