Default Buying A Condo Is Not Like Buying A House

People tend to think of condominiums as smaller houses without the yard work.
First of all there are the legal differences. A single family home conveys with all the land around it and gives total control of its use to its owner. Condos, however, can only be possessed from the outside of the inside walls and anything beyond that is controlled by what is supposedly a democratic rule of all of the owners of the complex. In other words, no, you may not paint the front door in purple and green stripes or chop down the messy willow in 'your' front yard.

yes condos are much different than single family homes, townhomes, and lofts.....each have unique characteristics that separate them from the rest. Condos and Townhomes usually have HOA dues that cover specific items such as exterior maintenance, reserves, ultilities, water, sewer/trash, etc. Also, with most townhomes you also own land beneath similar to single family residence. Lofts are a unique urban type of residence that are offered in many styles....historical, midrise, flats, split-level, highrise, traditional, soho, artistic....

I agree, both have advantages and disadvantages that could be the reason why buyers tend to have different opinions on which one would be better to own.. As long as they're not being ripped-off of their money, then it's okay whichever they prefer I guess..

Default Fort Bonifacio Apartment for Rent

It is nice to hard to buy a condo unit but it is more nice to have a place that can be called home. Somehow condos are just like apartments the only difference is that condos are more expensive than apartments.

If i were to choose between a house and condo, I would definitely choose house where I can have my own backyard and do what ever home improvements anytime I want.

    Default Condos in Minnesota

Minnesota has some wonderful condo complexes for real estate buyers to choose from: of course downtown Minneapolis condos, and condominiums throughout the various suburbs.

Certainly our real estate team has found that some buyers prefer the condo compared to a single family home or other types of MLS listings. But no doubt there is not one "right or wrong" way to go. I think it depends upon the personal needs of that buyer, what they are looking for, etc.

There are also some great lofts for sale on the Minnesota MLS as well.

There's certainly no easy way to say one's better than the other. It all comes down to lifestyle. Sure, you'd like a backyard for the kids and dog, but empty nesters and young people would rather go to the dentist than cut grass. And even though you can't do anything to the outside of a condo, there's not anything stopping you from customizing your interior space. Well, unless you're messing with something structural maybe.
