They don't approve anymore..only to your friends and why are they so special?

DMOZ is still the most important directory on the web. It is where Google begins their crawl and many other directories scrap from them so it becomes extra links for little effort. My sites have not been incorporated but I wish I could get them included. If anyone knows how or has a contact please PM me.

I don't get the fuss over DMOZ. I don't know anyone who has gotten accepted and if you look at the sites they have accepted many of them are kind of crappy. Why would a brilliant company like Google give them any sort of credibility?
Looking for a realtor in Minnesota? How about a Missouri realtor in St. Louis or Kansas City? Agents Ranking researches the performance of thousands of real estate agents every year and hand selects the best realtors. Move on and forget about DMOZ. Google is giving less and less importance to directories. Spend your SEO time in other things that will bring your rankings up in less time than waiting 6 months for DMOZ approval.

Agreed. In the time it takes you to get approved there you can write a few articles and distribute them. Who really uses directories to find things anyway? people use search. I doubt most users even know what DMOZ is.
