Is Dmoz still important?
I just read that apparently a DMOZ listing is not as valuable as it was back in the day, has anyone seen a signifcant proof of that? I only got listed two weeks ago, been trying so hard to get there, and literally just found out that news!

Congratulations on getting in! I've been trying for along time with no success. I think it is still valuable; its so hard to get in.

Yes, it's still important. Out of any directory, it's the most important one.

Why it should be not important? Of course it's important and it helps in social bookmarking and it gives traffic for the site.

I've been trying to submit my site to DMOZ listing but still got no luck on getting in their directory. Thus I've tried to submit my site to other directories however what I got is unsolicited emails.

I tried to get listed on DMOZ for 3 years then one day suddenly I saw it was listed. Since then I haven't noticed anything extra ordinary or a boost in serp. To me it appears just as a quality oneway link thats it.
So people please don't get your hopes so high for a DMOZ listing.

I'm aware that directories today are not that much valuable compared to as before but Dmoz is still dmoz. It's still good to get one way link from Dmoz than having no link from it.

Yes absolutely just have patience to be listed sites that resubmit generally get ignored. Try getting a listing and waiting a few weeks dont submit again a week later because you dont see yourself.
when you submit follow the directions and provide exactly what they are asking for dont deviate. If in doubt check someone elses listing in the DMOZ as a reference.

I definitely have no empirical proof one way or the other.... but I know that about 7 years ago...it really helped a site of mine jump in google's SERPS which improved my life.
This is fairly interesting....why dont you post where you are for some keywords that you are targeting now...and then every couple weeks...that would be useless data if you do a significant amount of link building though.
By the way, congratulations....
