read the rules carefully and submit. I have not gotten placed in the directory but I tried and then figured it wasn't worth it. I continue with other SEO efforts and moved on. good luck.

DMOZ - Open Directory
I tried very seriously to get a DMOZ link when it was considered to be a valuable SEO asset, as an open directory project it started out as a great concept. The reality is the editors screwed it up. Most of them sign up as an editor opting for their own niche, get their link added and then block all the competitors. I took this up with them and although they never admitted it they suggested I apply as an editor. My editor application was not approved, no idea why, maybe because there was already an editor for my niche?
It is difficult to see how DMOZ could describe itself as an open directory is it not?

Demoz
I don’t think Dmoz is important enough to spent time on. Submit your site and let it be. The problem with Dmoz is that they have moderators for each section and if that moderator doesn’t feel like working no one will get added to that section no matter how good their site is.

Dmoz
It used to be a coveted link but the set up is not right, to many vested interests in each category. You can apply to edit your chosen category, what does that say.

Dmoz
I think the lights have been of at DMOZ for quite a few years now. Thay have left the door open but that is an illusion. What sort of organisation does not acknowledge or respond to an application?
