There are a lot of Web Directories and Article Directories which are not accepting the submissions any more so you must have made a list of those directories which are approving the submission, Also it is important that you follow the guidelines of each blog when you do blog commenting and other things.

The directories and blogs etc. on which you are submitting of posting your links must have a very good PR if you are wanting to have back links from them. Otherwise if you just submit your site in dozens of sites and blogs and there PRs are not good then you might not get any back link from them so its important to concentrate more on quality rather than quantity.

I don`t think it is a good idea to get hundreds of backlinks in 1 day. Google could mark it as spam or link purchasing

While we are on the subject, how many links are considered too many too fast? I have read in many places that you should build links naturally and over time, if google thinks you are spamming it will sandbox you. Hence, what would you say is too much? 10 a day? 30 a day?

I think you can have up to 50 and have no problems in Google.
Honestly..I think there will be no problems for 100 either..but I don`t want to risk

I've never read a definitive 'how many is too many' per day metric, but since the pain and suffering from getting in the sandbox is so high, I think it makes sense to take it very slow, particularly after just launching a site.

I have read that the kind of links can have as much to play in the Google wrath as the number of links. That is, simply getting tons of social media links (and there are tools that automate that) raises a red flag.

Overall, slow and steady wins the race!

It depends on the age of your domain. If it`s older than a year - there would be hardly any problem if you make thousands of submissions, but be careful with newer domains, because Google can treat it as a fraud...

    Default 100 is safe

If you spend the time and do it manually you can do 100 backlinks every single day and be safe.

They wont ban you if you take the time out and submit backlinks one by one.

Now its when you go and add 2000 backlinks in a day that it raises some red flags

Google has to give the benefit of the doubt to sites that suddenly receivelots of links, because anyone can add links to a site there is always the problem that competitors would just submit your site to a thousand directories in a day and have your site sandboxed by Google.
