I've tried to post several site through DMOZ, and for some reason, years later, they never got published. Strange, especially since they post many sites that are now defunct and that have spam tendancies.

Dmoz is the worst. If you submit it's common to get rejected and then weeks later get an email from some editor who asks you for money if you want your submission to be approved. They're like extorting money out of you.
That's why people are annoyed with DMoz and the corrupt directory.Interesting Resources

Do you really see an advantage being listed in DMOZ? I have a site that's ranking on several keywords for property, the site well coded, and doesnt participate in any black hat seo. I don't understand why they don't get me listed.
After the first try last month, I'll just have to wait again for several months to try my luck.

I know an editor
I personally know someone who is an editor for DMOZ and unfortunately there are just not enough editors to go around.
They are very particular on acceptance criteria and therefore very limited in editors.
My friend explained to me that it was not uncommon for him to pick up a new catagory in the ODP and find submissions that were years old and still not reviewed.
The best advice I can give is submit your site, keep the description short and concise (no more than 2 sentences), and make sure it is a "description" of your site not an advertisement for it.
Then forget about it.
It will happen or it won't but don't stress over it.

Same story as most. I submitted my site some months ago and I'm still waiting. Is there any benefit in applying to become a editor?
