Content writing pricing?
What is a "standard' for someone to write articles for you? Is there some typical pricing in the industry...
I'm actually about to build a mortgage website so I'm looking for someone to write some content. I'm a pretty good writer and could do it on my own but I don't have that kind of time and would benefit more from someone who I can pay to write it for me..
But of course I don't want to be overcharged

I don't think there is a standard. The old saying, "you get what you pay for," probably applies. Good luck.

Pricing really depends on several factors including the amount of words and the quality of the work. The amount of time for research is also factored in.

that makes sense...I'm just wondering what is "paying too much" in regards to it. Obviously it can vary but I wouldn't want to pay $150 for an article that someone else would have done for $50...that's what I was really getting at. I guess it'll take some researching on my part.

thanks for the info.

Content Pricing
The whole purpose of website content is strictly for the search engines. Period.
With that in mind, unless you're targeting a small niche on the internet, why pay someone to come up with your content. There are tons of public domain content on the web. Do a search sometime and you'll be surprised.Mark Tew

If you are generating content strictly for search engines, it may pay off in the short run, but not in the long run.
Remember, the purpose of web pages is for users. Search engines are trying to rank things based on the value and importance to the end users, not to search engines. They may not be good at it right now, but they are improving. They take into account duplicate content and how many times people have linked to your content, etc.
So design your site, and write your content for the user. Stay on topic and make it useful for them. In the long run it will benefit the user and your site far more than copying the same articles everyone else can get.

I know a lot of people are hiring fresh-out-of-school Business and English majors for this kind of work. They're eager for experience and cheaper than seasoned professionals, although not as well-versed in certain areas. Anyhow, it might be better to go with someone you can train for a better price since it's all web content.

There is a BIG difference between "seasoned professionals" and kids out of school when it comes to content writing - especially in real estate. Our clients are able to give us a basic explanation of their needs and we can intuit what they want and give it to them without having them dot the i's and cross the t's for us. That knowledge is something that, of course, only comes with experience.
It is interesting to observe the time spent on exchanges by some real estate agents here about saving a few dollars on the content for their all-important website and the attitudes of others who realize the importance of presenting relevant, unique content for the users - NOT only to satisfy the search engines. A very telling picture on the attitudes of the agents overall!
